I have a PayPal account for occasional Ebay purchases but I find using my credit card easier..

I only use my PayPal account when there is no other option

"No, I would not use PayPal. (Please explain)"

I don't have a "good" explanation, I just don't trust/like them. I also will not buy online with a credit-card, unless absolutely necessary. Give me the option of cash and I will consider it (like getting a gift-card type thing at a store). Because my financial information is best kept safe by letting as few people as possible at it.

Looking at it, this isn't a good poll...I think...

What other sites is this poll being used at?

I have a credit card and have used it in the GW online store many times. I would rather not use Paypal because I would rather there be no middle man and support aNet with the full of my purchase. On the other hand, the online store is lacking of products so it doesn't matter.

I voted for - "I have a credit card but would prefer to use paypal" - this is a little inaccurate. I would prefer to use the in-game store, but the last time I tried it was a DISASTER, it took me about a week and a half to make a purchase, and I got a lot of run around from "support."

Paypal is less convenient, but I have never had anything like that happen with paypal - it seems to be a more reliable service. So, given my previous experiences with the GW store (both good and bad), I would like to have another option.

So I'd probably try the store again, as a first option - but, would really, really like a fallback I can count on.

See this is what i mean, in Holland only(which is a small country) we got tens of CC company's, can you image how much the rest of Europe has. PayPal supports ALL of them.

would not use paypal:
I do prefer to use a credit card for proof of purchase and fraud protection in general. Also because I get points

I have a CC, and don't really have that many qualms about using it, but my PayPal account's sitting there rather unused and has money in it, so I'd go for that instead.

I don't understand what you wanted to say, Gaile set the poll up fine.

More Options are almost always better.

I use my Mastercard (can be used either as credit or debit)....but if I didn't have it I would want the option.

Perhaps Anet should also consider allowing mail order so people can send in stuff like money orders.

options options options...

I understand there's security risks with paypal and fees which aren't there with credit cards (and paypal doesn't work from debit cards in all countries) but it is definitely an option for those of us who don't have credit cards (my bank told me I wasn't earning enough to get one).

Also, this would be more for additional slots than for new installments of guildwars, as for new installments, I still enjoy hassling our local EB's

Money Order is good.. now have a look at how much you get charged to send it overseas and what the cost of sending safely, via courier or mail, to its destination

I most likely wouldn't use Paypal, but regardless of whether most people wouldn't use Paypal, the key question for ANet would be how many people who wouldn't use the online store would or might use the online store if ANet did accept Paypal. If that's significant, why not offer that flexibility?

As for higher costs, the percentage in fees to Paypal is most likely incredibly miniscule compared with the differential between wholesale and retail prices (for items being sold at retail). For any conversions from a retail purchase to an online purchase instead, that's potentially a much better return to ANet. For the most part, it's merely incremental licensing of an intellectual property license, so there's not much of a cost so a price-cost margin isn't even really at issue for those fees payable to Paypal being much of an issue (given that it's unlikely that those who would use credit cards with its own set of fees would instead use Paypal).

ANet should know it's market well enough already to figure out whether Paypal would appeal to a significant enough share of its market to be an option. It's an online entertainment service with customers with certain demographics across a broad age range.

Instead of a poll of how many or what percentage of players (who participate in the poll) would use Paypal, the more applicable baseline question should be how many players (or how much in revenues) need to purchase through the online store using Paypal (that otherwise wouldn't) to make it a worthwhile option for ANet to make it available as an option? If that's a low number, it's probably a no brainer (although not fully considering other possible issues that ANet might possibly have).

Like others have already said, I only use PayPal when I have to (ie. they don't take credit cards directly).

But as long as it doesn't increase the cost of anything to me, I think it's great to offer more payment options to those who could use them.

I like using PayPal, it's very convenient and easy. I feel much safer giving out an email rather than a credit card number to be honest. So yes, I would definitely use PayPal to buy things in the online store rather than using a credit card.

Well, I was trying to understand as well, and I've thought it through.

The question I see asking from the poll is "do you use PayPal?" It doesn't matter if I use it. It matters if people need to use it - and they only way you're going to find out if people need it is by scanning this thread, which has already grown to quite a few pages.

Let me ask you this: What is this poll hoping to achieve? What conclusions can you draw from this, and what can you use the results for?

The reason I asked if she was doing this on other sites was because it'd make more sense. Having a poll only at Guru for something like this is insignificant.

I do not use paypal unless there is no other choice - there is MUCH more fraud protection through my credit card than through PayPal.

I'm just against using Paypal because I have a credit card and I don't like having an unnecessary middleman involved. If Paypal was the only option, or I didn't have a credit card I'd use it (and I have done so previously).
